Alright! Alright! Alright! Summer is here, the buns are out, and what better way to stay hydrated, than with this VERY versatile, absolutely delicious, and extremely hydrating drink.
Depending on what part of the world you are from, this drink is known by MANY names; “Jamaica”, “Sorrel” “Zobo”, “Bissap”, etc. Everyone makes it differently too, some like it light, some prefer it with a darker hue, some like it virgin, others make it into a cocktail – it is so versatile, there is absolutely something for everyone.
Here is how we love ours —
We bring some water to a boil, take a few ounces of the leaves and steep them in the water and let it boil for a few minutes. The amount of water, and leaves is totally up to your preference. We wash up a pineapple, cut off the skin, and throw it into the pot. We let it all boil for 10 minutes (at this point you can add whatever flavors you want). We typically add some sugar or syrup to sweeten. We let the brew cool off while we throw some meat on the grill (using our Suya spice). When the drink is nice and cool, we add some ice to a cup and drink it all up as a nice summer refreshment. On the weekend, because adulting can be daunting, we add our fave vodka to it, and watch Bridgerton 😉 Happy Friday y’all!!
